My challenge was to create a mural depicting trees, but using the same mirror glass for both the image and the background. I accomplished the task by using long, fingerlike tesserae for the trees and chunkier, more square-ish tesserae for the background. I also subtly varied the amount of space between tesserae: The fingerlike tesserae have more space between them, allowing for wider black grout lines and an overall darker coloring in the trees.
